Head to Berastagi as basecamp for a quick weekend away to trek up to Mt. Sibayak for an unbelievable sunrise. This is a great little hike for those starting their adventure travels as it is not too challenging. If you’re lucky, there are times that the sulfur hits the air for the rare blue fire (easily seen at Ijen Crater, East Java) and if you listen closely, there will be gibbons howling in the background as you make your descent.

If you are short on leave time, this is what your weekend can look like. If you have great bosses, we do suggest to take the additional time to either work remotely in Bukit Lawang along the Bahorok River for a couple days.
Recommended Itinerary:

Fly Singapore 19:00pm to 19:20pm Medan (there is also a morning flight for you to choose from if you prefer)
Arrive and meet your driver. Settle in for 2hr drive to Berastagi
Check-in direct to rooms and it is recommended to go directly to sleep
Please note that Sumatra is 1hr ahead Singapore, so time is in your favour. -
04:30 Wake-up and pick-up
Start your trek up to Sibayak (1hr) and explore the active crater.
Coffee and snacks will be provided as you wait for the sun to rise.
When you are ready, head back down the mountain.
Arrive back to guesthouse for breakfast and shower
There are two options for the afternoon, head back to Medan for epic Nasi Padang dinner feast
Check in for 20:05pm flight back to Singapore
Or combine with Bukit Lawang
