How we do it differently

Not your typical Travel agent

At Chicken Feet Travels, we’re often asked if we’re a travel agent. The answer is—absolutely not. In fact, we exist to disrupt the very model most travel agents operate on.

Traditional travel agents sell the same cookie-cutter experience: rinse-and-repeat itineraries, bus tours, and packages built for profit margins. That’s not what we do.

We don’t sell travel. We design it—with heart, with intention, and with deep respect for the communities we partner with.

If you need a label, you could call us travel consultants or even adventure architects. But really, we’re just travellers who want to share the magic we’ve experienced. We’ve built trust with guides, guesthouses, and operators across Southeast and South Asia. They are the reason your trips feel alive, personal, and unforgettable.

Why travel with us

We created Chicken Feet Travels because we couldn’t find anyone doing travel the way we wanted to do it: small, slow, local, and transformational. We being a mixed of lived experience and infight that only seasoned travellers and trusted local guides can offer—information that doesn’t show up online, but lives in stories .

Here’s how we do it differently:

  • Our paths lead where most don’t. We go where most people don’t to places that still feel wild, still hold stories, and still welcome guests with open arms.

  • Conservation and community aren’t buzzwords—they guide who we work with and where your money goes.

  • Recommendations are backed by experience. We’ve been there. We’ve tested routes, dialled in timing, and minimised waste of time and money.

  • Planning is part of the magic. You bring the vision, we bring the legwork—so your trip flows effortlessly, with room to breathe.

  • Every group stays small. That’s how moments stay personal, immersive, and low-impact.

  • Support begins long before the trip—and continues after. You’re never just a booking to us.

  • We don’t just avoid over-tourism—we actively support places that need a different kind of visitor who will help change old ways.

  • Guides are chosen for heart, not just because they were there. We partner with people who are humble, generous, and share our values—because no Instagram influencer can compete with their knowledge.

  • Custom is our default—from weekend escapes to long-term immersions.

  • Curiosity drives the design. Not just consumption but discovery

Mishaps and mistakes cost you money and time.

Of course, given all the information that you can find online, you could plan your own trip. However, navigating greenwashing, finding responsible operators who go above and beyond, or finding drivers you know prioritises safety does take a long of time and research. Many destinations we work in require layered coordination between multiple operators. Logistics change with the seasons—tourist and weather. Good information is scattered online, so which do you trust. And one bad guide can ruin a great place. We’ve visited these places over and over to test the waters, build trust, and find the right people. That’s how we ensure your experience is safe, meaningful, and rooted in local wisdom—not guesswork.

Some people assume using a travel service costs more. Not always:

  • Booking last minute often means higher prices and few options. Flights, accommodation, and guides cost you more when you’re in a rush

  • You can end up paying more for a worse experience—luxury branding doesn’t always equal good service, especially in unfamiliar regions.

  • We help you avoid scams and tourist traps that look perfect online but are so gross in real life.

  • We often earn commission from accommodation or operators, meaning you pay the same.

  • For custom planning or private trips, we charge a fair rate based on the size and duration of the trip.

  • Our focus is not on padding prices—it’s on delivering something truly different.

We’ve done the legwork so you don’t have to gamble your time, your money, or your trust.

Travel Should Mean Something

We’re not here to sell a holiday. We’re here to bring back the lost art of travel—the kind that feels like discovery, that humbles you, that connects you to something bigger than yourself.

We help protect what matters most by:

• Avoiding destinations suffering from over-tourism

• Partnering only with those who protect biodiversity and culture

• Donating at least 10% of profits to grassroots conservation and development

Inspiring people to travel consciously and courageously

You don’t need a travel agent. You need a reason to go- and a team on the ground, ready to help you do it differently.

We believe people protect what they love. And love comes from connection. That’s why our mission is to revive the lost art of travel—where you meet people with open hearts, and leave as friends.

CHICKEN FEET TRAVELS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE

We are not your typical travel company. We’re not here to sell you a cookie-cutter experience or give you the same trip you’ll find with a quick Google search. We’re here for those who want to travel with intention—who are ready to embrace a little grit, a lot of curiosity, and a love for what’s real and unpolished. We’re here for those who understand that the real adventure begins long before the trip is booked—when you decide to see the world not as a backdrop for selfies, but as a living, breathing teacher of stories, culture, and connection.

Travel with Chicken Feet Travels means choosing the road less travelled. It means working with local guides who care as much about the future of their home as they do about sharing it with you. It means prioritising time and energy exploring places instead of the “best”, “ultimate”, "must-see” list of tourist traps.

We’ll be honest: this isn’t for everyone and that’s okay. We’re not here to make you feel comfortable. We’re here to make you feel alive.
If you’re ready to go beyond the usual, you’re in the right place.

We just ask that you:

  • Say yes to more than just the destinations. Say yes to the rocky roads, the local conservations, the unexpected invitations. Say yes to the moments of uncertainty that make travel feel electric.

Our experiences are designed to open you up to the world, not to lock you into a rigid itinerary. When you say yes, you let curiosity and wonder lead you to experiences you didn’t even know you were looking for.

  • Adventure isn’t about comfort—it’s about courage. To be bold is to step beyond the familiar, to try things that scare you just enough to make you feel alive. It’s about trusting that every new skill learned, every waved surfed, every trail trekked, will add to the story you carry home. We believe travel should be a time of firsts, not a checklist of the usuals.

  • We travel to find new places, but more than that, we travel to find new ways of being. Living mindfully is about being fully present—taking a deep breath of salty air before a dive, savouring the quiet moments in nature, and giving your full attention to every meal, every conversation, every sunrise. Live heartfully means sharing those moments with open hands and an open heart.

  • When you move through the world with love, patience, and grace, you’re not just a traveller—you’re part of a bigger story of respect and community. Move with empathy, not entitlement. Let go of big expectations and embrace the warmth of shared humanity. In our travels, we believe that kindness is never wasted—it’s the best souvenir you can bring home.

  • The world will keep spinning whether you rush through it or slow down to meet it. To just be is to allow yourself to pause, to find the magic in the present moment without needing to capture or curate it. It’s about trading the endless scrolling and comparison for the slow rhythm of your own breath, the sound of waves, and the stories of those who call these places their home. This is travel stripped back to its essence—no more, no less.
