From One Cycling Enthusiast to Another

We offer incredible, supported road cycling trips in unique, inspiring destinations that get you away from the traffic and off the beaten track.

Cycling is an amazing way to explore South East Asia but, as this region gets busier and more developed, finding the right destination with smooth, quiet roads as well as stunning scenery can be a challenge. Chickenfeet Travels’ co-founder Simon is an experienced cyclist and has been out there to reconnaissance all the routes for you, so you can rest assured that incredible rides await.

We’ve selected amazing accommodation and we work closely with providers to ensure cyclists have all they need. We sort all the logistics for you and all rides have support vehicles... all you have to do is get to the airport with your bike!

From a long weekend getaway to a full week trip, we’ll take you away from the congestion, traffic lights, and repetitive routine of your normal rides.

We’ll take you off the beaten path and, therefore, support the local economy in the places that need it most.

We’ll deliver a hassle-free trip to see a different, authentic, and inspiring side of Southeast Asia, with views from the saddle that are guaranteed to make you smile.

We also offer a few carefully selected trips further afield with providers we know well, so check out our destinations below.

All of our trips are for intermediate to experienced road cyclists. However, we can tailor routes/distances to your group and preferences.

“We’ve found some absolute gems of places to ride that I’m sure are going to become really popular with cyclists. We can’t wait to share them!” - Simon, Co-Founder

After all, we should take our everyday hobbies and integrate them into our travel adventures.

A quick Intro to Road cycling in Southeast Asia (written by Jin)

Before getting into the lay of the land, please bear in mind that this was written from a non-cyclist point of view. I ride a single-speed fixie in Singapore. However, I have explored a lot of remote Southeast Asia by motorbike and scooter. So with the exception of underestimating how steep an incline is for a human-powered bike, I can bear witness to the quality of roads, the lack of traffic, and dramatic panoramic views. I would like to think that I recon destinations with some road cycling pre-req’s in mind, which is then tested by Simon (a long time cyclist). If approved, we package it up neatly for you.

I was working remotely as we were building the company and all our offers. Between 2015 to 2018, I travelled mostly by motorbike, exploring Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Indonesia. I will never cease to be surprised that once you get out of the major cities in Asia (and in USA for that matter), how quiet and deserted it is. Visiting major cities like Ho Chi Minh or Bangkok is a complete misrepresentation of the quality of roads and road congestion that lie just beyond the outskirts of city limits.

In the near future, I would like to see the following added to our list of road cycling destinations on offer:

  • West Coast Banda Aceh and Pulau Weh, Indonesia

  • Eastern Provinces of Cambodia

  • Extend our routes on the Ho Chi Minh Highway, Vietnam

  • Northern Provinces of Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The above destinations would be just perfect for road cycling because:

  1. No cars, no trucks, no people, only the occasional wandering water buffalo or cow.

  2. No potholes

  3. Stunning landscapes

TL;DR: Chicken Feet Travels offers supported road cycling trips in Southeast Asia, designed by co-founder Simon, a lifelong cyclist. These trips prioritise quiet, scenic, and traffic-free routes, often overlooked by mainstream tourism. All logistics are handled, with support vehicles and handpicked local partners. Whether you’re looking for a short weekend ride or a week-long adventure, the goal is to blend passion for cycling with authentic travel experiences that support local communities.

The blog also includes Jin’s non-cyclist reflections from years of exploring Southeast Asia by motorbike, identifying ideal routes for road cyclists looking for no traffic, no potholes, and jaw-dropping views.
